Financial Requisites

A security deposit of THB 800,000 should be made in the Thai Bank Accounts two months prior to the retirement visa application.
You must get monthly income or a pension of THB 65,000. Also, an affidavit from the consulate should be obtained as a proof.
You must have a total of 800,000 THB after combining your Thai bank account and per annum income.

You will need to apply for a ninety-day initial visa from the Thai consulate prior to the application of the retirement visa.
Proof of address in Thailand is required too.
You should wait for at least sixty days in Thailand before applying for the retirement visa. The visa extension application can be only accepted if the applicant hasn’t crossed his final thirty days of his present permit.

Points to Remember after Holding a Retirement Visa

Any retirement visa holder will require notifying the Immigration Office about their present residential address in every 90 days.
In case you want to travel in and out of the country throughout the year, then you will require a multiple re-entry permit.
Thai retirement visa has a validity of one year after that it needs to be renewed.
According to the Bureau of Customs retirees are not allowed to import personal effects to Thailand.

The 90 day report can be filed at your nearest Thai immigration office. Presently, there are four ways of filing the report. They are mentioned below;

Do I Need to Pay any Fee to File the 90-Day Report?

No, there isn’t. You do not require to pay any fee for filing the 90-day report.

How Long will It Take to Process the Application?

It takes around seven working days for the application to process.

I have received my retirement visa, but I will require traveling in and out Thailand, how I can prevent my visa from getting cancelled?

You will need a multiple re-entry permit in that case.

I am based in South Africa so how do I do this? It will be for my wife and I so do I have to make a deposit of THB 1 600 000 for the both of us?

You and your wife must have 2 different accounts as the visa will be applied individually.

I do not receive a government pension, however I have an amount of R9 600 000, 00 Million (THB 24 672 000) invested in a South African Bank. I receive a monthly return of approximately R66 000, 00 (BHT 170 000) as a return on my investment into my bank account monthly. Should I get a statement from the bank to this effect and take to the Thai Embassy in South Africa, will that be good enough?

Your pension is just an option as long as the 800,000 THB has been transferred to your Thai account and an account statement has been issued by the Bank of Thailand, it is good enough.
