Thailand approves 40 billion-baht projects to promote EEC development

Good news! Thailand has approved 40 billion baht for five projects. According to sources, the highest investment proposal came from a Chinese investor, who is to invest 10.06 billion THB to incorporate a car tyre production project in Chon Buri province. Similarly, a project by the General Rubber, yet another car tyre manufacturer projected to use 35,398 tonnes of rubber each year and has approved an investment worth 9.72 billion THB. And this is expected to boost the local rubber consumption that is valued over 3,000 million baht per annum.

The Secretary General of Board of Investment, said after a meeting that it has approved large-scale assignments in the automotive, air transportation, and aircraft heavy maintenance and repair centre.

A W Co., Ltd, the Japanese company has been approved an investment promotion incentive for automatic transmission production project that worth 7,244 million baht. This project is to produce as well as supply automatic transmissions to local and overseas car makers. The General Rubber Co., Ltd, on the other hand was granted 9,721 million baht for vehicle tires production project. It is to boost local rubber consumption to support the government’s policy.

Also, Ronnachai Wongcha-um, a Flying Officer, was granted investment promotion incentives for aircraft heavy maintenance and repair center plus a joint venture between the Thai Airways International Plc. This 6,468-million-baht project will be situated at the Eastern Airport City right in the Rayon Province. It is expected that the project will improve the country’s competitive advantages, particularly in terms of the new aircraft maintenance.

On the other hand, the Thai Indonesian JV airplane company was approved incentives for air transportation project worth 6,968 million baht. This low-cost airline will operate both domestic and international, to support the aviation and tourism industry of Thailand.
