The American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) expresses their support to Thailand 4.0 and they would like to find out how their members could be involved more in the Smart Farming Scheme. They, together with the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce (JFCCT) conducted a meeting with the Board of Investment, where the following was discussed;
- BOI incentives on Smart Farming as a part of the 4.0 policy;
- More focus is on promoting modern agriculture, the digitization of the farming sector, and the use of more automation;
- Understanding the BOI policy better on Agriculture and Smart Farming that would be of more use to the members, particularly to explore investment opportunities;
- Incentives will be given to new projects;
- The policy may be revised and welcome both input and suggestions;
- AMCHAM proposed a number of recommendations to BOI in order to make the Smart Farming Incentives more attractive while welcoming different industry members from this sector for contribution;
It is decided during the meeting that any interested company will be eligible to apply for the BOI incentives from abroad. As soon as the project will be approved, the company will have six months for company registration in Thailand. However, this six months period can be further extended three times (four times each).
The people who were involved in this meeting, includes, Kanchana Noppun, Executive Director, Nathareekon Saesubak, Senior Investment Promotion Officer, and Patipol Kornkamonpruk, Investment Promotion Officer from BOI; Bob Fox, Marcelo Souza, Mehdi Saint-Andre, and Wanlapa Yamapai from JFCCT; and Tomwit Jarnson, and Timothy Welsh from AMCHAM.
