Generally, permanent residence in Thailand is divided into 5 main categories;

However, out of these the most preferred ways of applying for PR in Thailand are work/business and Supporting Thai citizen or being supported by Thai citizen, If you ask why, well it is because of the benefits;
Work/Business
- The holder of extension of stay permit for 3 years or more (consecutively)
- The holder of work permit for 3 years or more (consecutively)
- Earning annual income of 960,000 Baht or more during the past 3 years
- If you have Calving your jobs (employer) during the past 3 years, you must be working for your current employer for no less than 1 year.
Supporting Thai citizen or being supported by Thai citizen
- The holder of extension of stay permit for 3 years or more (consecutively)
- The holder of work permit for 3 years or more (consecutively)
- Earning annual income of 360,000 Baht or more during the past 3 years
- Legally married to a Thai national:
- Married for at least 2 years and having their biological child together; or
- In case of infertility, they have to be married for at least 5 years + providing medical certification of their issue
To succeed it is important to consult a legal expert who will be able to tell you better your possibilities of obtaining the PR. Just make sure you have answers to these questions ready as that will help them to analyze your case faster;
- The number of years (consecutively) that you hold business visa (if going through business) and extending it in Thailand
- The number of years (consecutively) that you hold a work permit
- Your annual income for the year (according to the Personal Income Tax– PND 91) 2015, 2016 and 2017
- What is your current monthly salary rate?
- What is your marital status?
- If you are married, how long have you been married? And what is the nationality of your spouse?
- If the nationality of your spouse is a Thai national, do you have any biological children together with your Thai Spouse?
