How to Obtain Food and Drug Administration (FDA) License in Thailand?
You may be aware that if you are planning to start a restaurant or a bar in Thailand, you will have to obtain FDA (Food and Drug Administration) license. Typically, the FDA in Thailand controls products including foods, psychotropic substances, medical equipment cosmetics, narcotics, volatile substances and hazardous substances. Anyone involved in manufacturing or import of these products will be required to get an FDA-approval.
How can you get the approval?
Well, the FDA’s approval depends upon 5 different kinds of control;
- Technical support or cooperation with other companies
- Checks conducted for safety of the consumers after the product is launched
- Pre-marketing control of advertising, product, and factory
- Checks at regular intervals of the previously controlled products or facilities
- Ensuring whether the information provided to the consumer is accurate and sufficient
However, if you are looking to obtain FDA license, you will need to show these three documents;
- A copy of domestic registration should be submitted. You might think why domestic registration copy? Well, this is required in case you are a foreigner.
- With your application form, you must attach work permit issued by the Thailand Labor Department.
- Also, a copy of company registration needs to be submitted. Make sure all the documents related to your company’s establishment are there. These include details related to the company’s objectives and the name of the company’s authorized person.
- Proof of authentication of the nationality of the company. The document must contain your company’s shareholders list. You will get this document from the Ministry of Commerce. In case you are a foreigner, then along with this document, you must provide a certificate to carry on business in Thailand.
