Why not? You must have heard about the US-Thai Amity Treaty. That makes things even easier for any US citizen. In fact, maximum of the foreign investments in Thailand are made by them. On May 29, 1996, the treaty was signed between the USA and Thailand, promoting trade and commerce and reciprocal legal rights between them. Since then US Citizens enjoy many advantages when they start a business in Thailand. One of the greatest benefits they enjoy is the grant of 100% company ownership. Also, Americans are exempted from most restrictions imposed on foreign investment, implemented by the Alien Business Law, of 1972.
However, for an American to start a business in Thailand, he or she must ensure that at least 51% of the company’s shares are with US nationals. If you are willing to open your company in Thailand, you must have these documents;
- Sole Proprietorship: Proof of the U.S. citizenship
- Thai Partnership: Thai Limited Company or Joint Venture
- Articles of Incorporation
- An Affidavit of the Corporate Officer
- Bylaws of the company
- Application of a Subsidiary: Documents related to the parent company
Once you have these, you must be ready to follow the below-mentioned steps;
